The power of color pops: brighten up your room with something as simple as a dresser!
Updated: Mar 7, 2019
First, let me just say that there are thousands of great ideas on how to bring your old furniture back to life on social media, especially on Pinterest! One idea in particular, is how to decoupage.
"Decoupage or Découpage is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf and other decorative elements." The chest of drawers below, I used as my "muse"... and although this project in particular did not turn out as clean as I would have liked, I was proud to have tried and accomplish something new!
Here's what you are going to need:
Paint
Primer
Mod Podge
Paint brushes
Sand Paper - Sander
3-Ply Napkin - with a wonderful design
Now, because this blog is another first for me (with many more first to come), In my excitement to try something different, I forgot to do a step by step video on how I accomplished the above. Sad, yes, I know! Not to worry, here is the link for the Pinterest blog I used to create this wonderful piece: Pinterest Decoupage
Hope you're willing to try! It is my hope that everyone will find motivation to Rescue, Recycle and Reuse an item that has the potential to become something new once again. It's not always "out with the old", Often times we have the perfect piece at home, and "if" we are willing to put in some time and energy into it, we can make our houses the homes we love to see on HGTV!
I would love to see pictures!! Soooo go over to my facebook and share!! Island Redesign Facebook Don't forget to like the page while you are there!
